Health & Safety

A safe, respectful, and healthy workplace is essential to good teaching and learning. The ADTU supports members to raise concerns early, take part in safety planning, and access the protections available.

Every member has the right to know about workplace hazards, to participate in health and safety activities, including JOHS (Joint Occupational Health and Safety) committees, to refuse unsafe work, and to do so without reprisal. We encourage prompt reporting of hazards, injuries, and near-misses, and collaborative follow-up to prevent recurrence.

If you need support with a workplace concern or issue, please reach out to your Health and Safety Representative, Staff Representative, or the ADTU office. Working collaboratively with the district, we aim to address concerns promptly and help foster school environments that are safe, respectful, and caring places to work and learn.
